Job Description: Eparchial Finance Officer

Position Type: Permanent Full –Time
Location: 9645 -108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta
Work Relationship: Be responsible for keeping accurate and up-to-date financial and accounting records.
Reports to: The Chancellor

Position Summary

  • Provide high quality and accurate financial and accountant services for the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Bishop and Chancellor to assist in development of standard financial procedures and requirements across the Eparchy.
  • Responsible for office management, equipment leases, insurance policies, contracts and accounts.
  • Provide book keeping and payroll service.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements.
  • Prepare the annual operating budget.
  • Maintain all financial records including those required for investments.
  • Review all incoming invoices, make recommendations and timely payment.
  • Provide full support to the Auditor at year end.
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
  • Assist with special projects or other financial duties as required.
  • Prepare agenda, attend meetings scheduled outside of regular business hours , record and prepare minutes with follow up on action items.
  • Liaison with parishes, clergy, religious, laity, government or private agencies and organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chancellor.

Position Qualifications

  • A commitment to Eparchial values, visions, and directions.
  • Preference given to an individual with a recognized accounting designation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with general office equipment, accounting software, Windows Vista, Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • A professional, who has the ability to work independently and able to handle confidential matters discreetly with diplomacy, tact and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to work with volunteer boards and volunteers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a multi-task workload, take initiative, solve problems and be flexible.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian language an asset.

Travel: This position will require some travel within the Edmonton and area and throughout Alberta.

Salary: Dependent upon education and experience.
