Metropolia Sobor 2008 : The entire hierarchy, clergy, religious and monastics of the Winnipeg Metropolia will assemble May 26-28, 2008 in Edmonton for a unique conference to reflect on the theme of “The Mission of Our Church: Receiving and Sharing – Catechesis as Evangelization.” ANNOUNCEMENTS The Message of Pope Benedict XVI for the 23rd World Youth Day, (Послання Святішого Отця Венедикта XVI Bishop David established an Ad Hoc Clergy Personnel Committee of the Eparchy of Edmonton, with the mandate to present for his consideration a proposal of Clergy Assignments, which will be effective August 1, 2008. The members of the Committee are: Rt. Rev. William Hupalo, Chair, Rev. Janko Herbut, and Rev. Rendall Yackimec. Bishop David issued a Pastoral Letter to the Clergy, Religious and Faithful of the Eparchy of Edmonton on the 75 th Anniversary of the Ukrainian Famine – Holodomor (1932-1933). Three special events are planned to commemorate the Holodomor: Education – “Hunger Banquet,” November 22, Youth Unity Centre, Edmonton; Social Outreach – “Feeding the Poor of Today,” November 23, Eparchy-wide; and Prayer – Panachyda Service for the Deceased, November 24, Edmonton City Hall. Bishop David appointed Laurie Yuzwa as a member of the Eparchial Finance Council. Laurie has over 25 years of financial experience specializing in tax compliance, tax provision reviews, due diligence reviews, financial consolidation and reporting, internal audit, budgeting, cash flow and financial analysis, and risk management. She is currently a consultor with the Alberta Auditor General and is an active member of Saint Stephen Parish, Calgary. The Eparchial Finance Council currently consists of the following individuals:

Families, where are the saints in the third millennium?, the message in part can serve as pastoral preparation for the 2008 International Eucharistic Congress, as it reminds families of the importance of the Eucharist as an inexhaustible source for nourishing conjugal love and family unity. In addition to the attached electronic copy, the message is also available in the form of a brochure, with samples available from the COLF offices. Those aspiring to the priestly ministry study at Holy Spirit Seminary, Ottawa, where they receive their human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral formation. The faithful can acknowledge the role they play in supporting the formation of new priests by offering their financial support, which helps to defray such expenses as formation programs, tuition and books. The suggested donation amount, as in past years, is $15.00 per family. This year, in formation are: Roman Planchak (3rd year theology), Holy Spirit Seminary, Ottawa, and Basil Sych (pastoral internship), Saint Josaphat Cathedral, Edmonton. “Go to the Deep: The Life of Archbishop Joseph M.
