The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops unveil its new and improved web site. “Teach - Govern – Sanctify,” the role of the Bishop, was selected as the tagline. It served as a guide for both design and content. The revamped site will still contain all of the information that can be found on the current web site, but with a sleek, dynamic new look, functional and user-friendly interface and many additional features such as: a Bishops’ Blog; a mobile web option; article sharing over Facebook; and a new section of “Frequently Asked Questions.” Visit www.cccb.ca. A new online Catholic Bible search engine, which enables people to find specific Scripture passages using keywords, has been launched. The program has been developed by Catholic.net with the support of the United States Bishops’ Conference. It is believed to be the first complete Catholic Bible translation made available for keyword search. Both the English and Spanish translations of the Bible available at the site have been approved by the Vatican. The search engine also allows users to share Bible passages with their blogs, with Facebook and Twitter. It also allows people to add a search widget to their own personal Web page. The new bible search engine can be found at: www.bible.catholic.net. The Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton was forced to relocate St. Joseph Seminary and Newman Theological College because of ring road development around the north Edmonton site. For that reason Archbishop Smith has asked for help to support the Cornerstone of Faith Capital Campaign aimed at raising $15 million for the construction of a new seminary and college. The Cornerstone campaign officially launched September 22, 2009 and to date has raised $9.25 million on our goal of $15 million. For more than 80 years, St. Joseph Seminary has been blessed with the mission of training Roman Catholic men for religious service across Western Canada. There are 38 Roman Catholic seminarians involved today, the most for many years. Newman Theological College, the theological faculty of the seminary, also offers the only graduate theological education for lay people in Western Canada, including Ukrainian Catholics. About 380 students attend the college each year. This project will help thousands of people develop a stronger faith well into the next century. Please support this worthwhile project by completing the pledge form found in the Cornerstone of Faith brochure or online at http://www.caedm.ca/cornerstone. Should you have any questions re: the campaign, please contact the Cornerstone of Faith Campaign Director, Ron Coulombe at 780 690-5041 or roncoulombe@telus.ca.
